Strejke

Services offered by ITS during a labour dispute

AAU IT Services has sought to assess the possible consequences that the labour dispute (strike/lockout) might have on the services offered by ITS.

STRIKE

ITS has received information that a strike notice has been issued for staff members employed as engineer assistants and skilled workmen employed by the Danish state (staff members covered by the collective agreement of the Danish Metalworkers' Union). The strike notice is issued for less than 10% of ITS staff; however, this will primarily affect staff members employed in AAU Support Services and service technicians.

We have not yet uncovered the exact number of staff members who are covered by the strike and organised in trade unions with collective bargaining rights; therefore, we do not yet know exactly how many staff members will go on strike.

ITS expects to maintain its usual level of service during the strike; however, with the following exceptions:

  • IT support: The level of IT support will be slightly reduced; however, critical cases will be solved and only minor cases are expected to be affected by the strike.
  • Network services, data centre services and audio visual installation services, i.e. setting up new servers in data centres and the physical work involved in networks and audio visual installations (error handling procedures, renovation and new installations) will be affected significantly. New installations and renovations may be postponed without causing unnecessary nuisance, but physical network errors may cause inconvenience.

LOCKOUT

ITS has asked that some of its staff members be exempt from the lockout, thus allowing ITS to carry out basic IT operations on network and email. This means that the services offered by ITS may be affected significantly during a lockout.

We have not yet uncovered the exact number of staff members who are organised in trade unions with collective bargaining rights. The following assessment is based on the expectation that only staff members exempt from the lockout and the management will report to work as usual during the lockout unless they are hindered to do so by a picket line.

During the lockout, ITS will only carry out basic IT operations and cannot offer IT support, this means that the following services will be affected:

  • Network and email: The email system is expected to work as usual and the same is expected to apply to the AAU network. ITS will have a team ready in case of system failures. Physical network errors may cause inconvenience.
  • Other IT operations: The operation of other IT services will not be suspended; however, in case of system failures, the ITS team will not be able to restore normal operation and the services affected by the failure will be unavailable during the lockout.
  • Purchasing IT equipment: ITS will not be able to process orders on IT equipment during the lockout.
  • IT support: AAU IT Support will not respond to phone calls (+45 9940 2020) or emails (support@its.aau.dk) during the lockout. All local service desks on campus will be closed during the lockout. If you call +45 9940 2020 you will get a message informing you that the IT Support Services are closed during the lockout. If you visit your local service desk, you will find a message informing you that the service desk is closed during the lockout.
  • Strategy, development, systems management and projects: No staff members will be present during the lockout and there will be no progress within these areas.
