Tiltrædelsesforelæsning ved adjungeret professor Peter-Paul Verbeek

Peter-Paul Verbeek afholdt den 7. september 2017 tiltrædelsesforelæsning ved Campus København. Anledningen var hans udnævnelse til adjungeret professor ved Institut for Planlægning i forskningsgruppen for Teknoantropologi og Participation.

Peter-Paul Verbeek takkede for udnævnelsen til adjungeret professor på Aalborg Universitet, da han holdt sin tiltrædelsesforelæsning den 7. september på Campus København med titlen: Our Technological Condition: Techno-Anthropology and the Politics of Technology.

Den nyudnævnte adjungerede professor, der har et professorat på Twente University i Holland, har gjort sig bemærket som en af  de fremmeste teknologifilosoffer i nyere tid og har i den forbindelse ageret som formand for flere internationale videnskabelige centre, foreninger og tidskrifter. Han har udgivet flere banebrydende artikler og bøger om forholdet mellem menneske og teknologi.

Fremover vil Peter-Paul Verbeek – i en femårig periode – være tilknyttet forskningsgruppen Teknoantropologi og Participation under Institut for Planlægning som adjungeret professor.

I indstillingen fremhæver AAU-lektor Lars Botin, at tilknytningen af Peter-Paul Verbeek vil styrke forskningsgruppens profil og knytte et tættere bånd til det dynamiske og stærke forskningsmiljø i design og teknologimetodologi og filosofi, som Verbeek har etableret i Twente. Forskningsgruppen har i den kontekst fokus på Verbeeks betydning og rolle som leder af et stort forskningsprojekt, som hidtil har udmøntet sig i DesignLab i Twente.

Inaugural Lecture by Professor Peter-Paul Verbeek

Peter-Paul Verbeek gave his inaugural lecture on the Copenhagen campus, marking his appointment as honorary professor at AAU.

Peter-Paul Verbeek expressed his thanks to Aalborg University for his appointment as honorary professor when he delivered his inaugural lecture on 7 September on the Copenhagen campus; the lecture was entitled: Our Technological Condition: Techno-Anthropology and the Politics of Technology.

The newly appointed honorary professor, who holds a professorship at University of Twente in the Netherlands, has established himself as one of the leading philosophers of technology in recent times. He has headed several international research centres, associations and journals, and he has published a number of groundbreaking articles and books on the relationship between humans and technology.

Peter-Paul Verbeek will be affiliated with the research group Techno-Anthropology and Participation under the Department of Planning as an honorary professor for a five-year period.

In his introduction speech, Lars Botin, associate professor at Aalborg University, noted that Peter-Paul Verbeek’s affiliation will strengthen the research group’s profile and create closer ties with the dynamic and strong research environment within design and technology methodology and philosophy that Verbeek has established in Twente. In this regard, the research group is focusing on Verbeek’s role and importance as head of a major research project that so far has resulted in the DesignLab at the University of Twente.
